Bouncing Back
Spritelings Store
Facebook Army
Back to Spritelings.com
Summer was a growing experience for Spritelings Inc. A series of mishaps and unfortunate situations made the summer feel like the world was against us. After a long battle with Etsy, we decided to give up our store and rebuild on Storenvy. That change cost us quite a bit of heartache. Over the last year, we had built up quite a bit of SEO love in the kawaii plushie search on Etsy. Their decision to shut us down has cost us quite a bit of sales and really did slow down our momentum for the summer.
That said, moving from Etsy was the best thing we could do to reboot our company. We really don't want to be associated with Etsy anymore so it was probably better in the long run to make the break.
We have bounce back with planning our Fall 2015 release lineup candidates. It is exciting because that gives us the ability to focus on what we love to do, create kawaii monster plushies and figures.
We also have been working on our marketing strategies to help spread the world of Spritelings to more people across the globe.
Here are a few of our design documents for you to enjoy.
The previous photograph highlights the work we did with fan focused designs for the Melon inspired version of Echo Spriteling and the Sushi inspired version of Echo. Fans of the ultra kawaii Votter series picked the Votter for our fall release schedule.

Etsy Shuts Down Shop For Applying to Work with Partners
Etsy's new policies allow you to partner with manufacturers to produce your designs. For example, you can work with a cut-and-sew shop to make clothes you've designed, a casting house that casts your wax models, or a digital printing house that turns your photographs into tangible items.
Apply for this and get your shop deleted no questions asked. Reason: They can't tell the difference between handmade and handmade with manufacturer help.
I created my Etsy shop about eight months ago to sell my plush creatures called Spritelings. Over the eight months, I have developed a wonderful fan base and Etsy had been a great partner for assisting me in selling my Spritelings.
It became very clear to me that I would not be able to keep up with the demand so I recently took my design to a plush manufacturer and began researching how to include my new designs into my Etsy shop. Etsy has an application process where you submit information about your partnerships and they will work with you to make sure your shop maintains compliance.
I submitted photos of my workspace and answered all of their questions. I have a full studio here at my home where Spritelings are made and EVERY single Spriteling that I have sold on Etsy has been handmade. I get an email back from Etsy that said my application was denied and that they have closed down my shop.
I have developed a huge fan base that uses Etsy to browse my Spritelings. I have built up a five star review and have comments from people that really meant something to me as a new business owner.
Here is my open letter to you Etsy! I can't believe you have done this to my shop.
Etsy,
With all of the shady stuff that happens on Etsy, why would you shut my store down. Why not decline my application to work with outside partners and work with me like your FAQ states. You shut me down on a Friday and went home for the weekend.
Your reasoning was that you could not tell which Spritelings were factory made or not? Why offer a program where you can apply to work with partners if you are going to deny the application and then delete a shop.
Why would you do this. You obviously don't care about your shops anymore. This proves it.
You deleted my shop and restricted my ability to do forum posts. Are you serious? Do your stockholders know how you are treating the people that make them money?
I guess I'm more upset about how much I have worked to maintain 5 star reviews, going over and beyond to get my stuff made and shipped out to get those reviews only to get deleted for simply applying for a program you actively promote.
Update: We have a new shop.
or
The following are photos that I had to send Etsy so they could 'verify' that I am handmade.
What do you think world? Do I make them by hand?

Spritelings is a brand new startup based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We have a great story line established and a line of handmade, adorable plush toys that have gained a following in the last six months. We grew from zero to over 9000 active fans almost overnight and we are looking to spread our wings. We have stickers, buttons, plush toys and a whole line of new products on the horizon.
What makes us different than your other plush vendors is that we are constantly evolving to meet the needs of our fan base. Every decision that we make as a small company is really driven by what the fans at conventions and online tell us. Our group of main characters in the web comic and plush line have evolved interactively and the world we are building is one of hope, friendship, good will and random acts of kindness. We are not just building plush, we are building a living breathing world. Our mission is to not only have fun but to leave each person that gets involved with the company a feeling that their ideas and suggestions will eventually end up changing the DNA of the Spriteling lore.
Our characters Echo, Banna, Meta, Walter, Tulip, Pico and Snowball have been built from the ground up with fan input and hours upon hours of tweaking their back stories. Spriteling technology is a mixture of science and fiction. We hope to be able to entertain and possibly educate along the way.
We have an etsy shop:

11 Things You didn't know about Walter Spriteling
1. He's the Spriteling alchemist. He can create potions to do all sorts of things. He's the only alchemist in the Spriteling tribe.
2. He's the oldest male Spriteling on Earth.
3. He is responsible for the potion that made Snowball Spriteling grow faster than all the other Spritelings.
4. He will be the first vinyl figure released by Spritelings.
5. He's the Spriteling on the Spriteling packaging when you receive an order from us.
6. The spots on his forehead allow him to channel Spriteling technology. Spriteling Essence is a mixture of alchemy and science but it is based on color. The color of a Spriteling's spots indicate which powers are stronger with that Spriteling.
7. Walter is rare in that he possesses powers in three colors. Most Spritelings only get one base color.
8. Walter lives in an alchemy hut inside the Spriteling sanctuary on Earth.
9. He comes off as grumpy and stern, but he's actually quite lovable and loyal.
10. His best friends are Banna and Meta Spriteling.
11. Walter's Earth name came from Walter Chrysler Jr. who's gift of a huge art collection established the Chrysler Museum of Art. The very first Walter was named 'Walter' after being received as a birthday gift. The name stuck and became a part of the Spriteling lore.
If you would like to get your own Walter plushies or buttons you can find him at the following Etsy store.

Echo Spriteling
Echo Spriteling is the appointed leader of the Spritelings on Earth. He is known for being impulsive and sometimes disorganized but he seems to be the only one that can keep the Spritelings on task. He is responsible for making sure that all the Spritelings get to Earth safely using the Spriteling portal that allows the Spritelings to hop to different destinations by way of wormholes. Echo has jet black fur and he is nearly invisible at night. This comes in handy for night missions into dangerous territories. The Spriteling tribe look to Echo for inspiration and direction. He is a prankster and can be silly at times, but he is a loyal leader and will do anything to help the mission to Earth. His best friends are Banna the scientist and Luci Spriteling. When he's not managing all of the Spriteling projects on Earth, you can find Echo wandering in the forests with his pet alien bird Cheeps or taking a midnight dip in a pond or stream.

A Chance Encounter…
--RC Militello
A Chance Encounter…
--RC Militello
Dr. Bellinger sighed as a slow
trickle of sweat dripped into his right eye.
It was going to be a long day. He
loved his job, but sometimes it was in hot, uncomfortable regions of the world. In this case, he was following up on a report
of a possible new moss that was located near a waterfall in Chile.
“Hello,”
he said. Finally, he was getting close
as he moved toward the pool. As always
his discomfort faded with the realization of a new discovery—this is what made
him tick. Bellinger waded ankle high
into the water and began to turn over the protruding rocks, his breath labored
as the damp heat took its toll.
That
was when he saw it. A brief flash,
movement on the edge of his peripheral vision so rapid that he thought it was
his imagination. He wiped his eyes
again, the sound of his laugh dying underneath the massive roar of the
waterfall.
“I must
be losing it,” he said. Bellinger sat
down on a large rock and began to scrape samples into plastic containers. For an hour he labored, but knowing he
needed time to get back to base camp, he started packing up. Quickly he radioed the rest of his team; they
too, were already headed back to their tents after a long, difficult day.
As
Bellinger gathered his pack, he saw it again.
In the dim light, the creature wiggled its ears and pulled them straight
back. He wasn’t sure, but he believed
the creature was staring at him.
The
doctor moved carefully toward it, but in a white flash, the little thing darted
under the waterfall.
Science
took over then, and Bellinger followed in, only to be confronted by a feeling
of disorientation, like he was being pulled through a garden hose.
He
awoke, soaking wet and dizzy. It was
dark, but the darkness had a green tinge to it—almost phosphorescent. A feeling of dread crept over the doctor as
realization set in.
He was
looking into the sky—a clear sky, only to discover that there was no moon.
Bellinger
feinted.
A New World…
He wanted to open his eyes, but he
was afraid. Only the fact that he was
soaking wet and shivering, gave him pause.
Survival kicked in, as Bellinger knew he would die if he didn’t warm up
somehow.
Slowly,
he peeled his eyelids open; darkness, still green tinged and an acrid odor
enveloped his senses. He forced his body
to move and rolled to his knees. He was
on a soft, grassy substance, the botanist in him guessing this was the origin
of the acrid smell.
He
hugged himself, in a vain attempt at getting warm. Dr. Bellinger started to walk in circles, and
as his eyes adjusted, he could make out that he had been prone at the foot of
some kind of stairway. The doctor moved
back up the stairs, instinctive hope driving him in the direction of home.
It was
then, halfway up the stairs, that he heard a sound, almost like a squirrel or
small rodent. He spun, facing the
sound. After a moment, more sounds,
similar but in different pitches, began to converge on him. Shapes, some small, some taller started to
appear in the dim light, but it was as if his eyes could not take them in
correctly, like they were shifting.
The
doctor put his hands up, knowing this very moment could be his last. The sound suddenly intensified, growing in
strength, but beautifully alien at the same time.
For the
second time that day, Bellinger feinted.
As he lost consciousness, he was sure that something was looking down at
him, smiling.
Spritelings travel together with each other in tight knit groups or become human companions. They are loyal but mischievous. They are always getting into adventures and misadventures. Although Spritelings have their own will, they are connected to each other with a mysterious network. It appears as though all Spritelings communicate on this built-in biological network of pheromones.
